How to Apply Titanium Dioxide-Free Mineral Makeup

APPLYING LOOSE POWDER FOUNDATION IS EASY!

Firstly, ask yourself if loose powder foundations are for you. If you've selected the Omiana loose powder range because they contain no mica, no titanium dioxide, and no boron nitride--plus all the other ingredients we avoid in all products (bismuth, talc, gluten, nanos, and so much more)--let's be on the same page about making them work for you:

Loose powders are best for skin that is not incredibly dry. If you need to apply lotion, organic oil, or a primer first, the loose powders can 'catch' on that filmy layer. Please take measures to ensure your skin is not dry: Drink plenty of water, supplement when necessary, ingest good organic oils (e.g., krill, coconut, etc.). . . . Beauty truly is an inside-out concept! Good health will manifest itself with radiant skin. (Tip: Did you know that, while hydrating one's skin before bed and in the morning can be great practice, letting your skin 'breathe' is a must for ensuring your skin maintains its natural sebum-producing ability? Using too many moisturizing agents too often can, in essence, confuse your skin's natural ability to heal and moisturize itself! For our loose powder Omiana fans, we recommend moisturizing at night four to six night a week and not in the morning, necessarily.)

Once dry skin is truly combated and you are ready for Omiana's loose powders, prepare for subtle to medium, buildable coverage since these powders are without titanium dioxide (an ingredient typically responsible for coverage. Since high-micron, non-nanoparticle zinc oxide is still used, coverage can be built to a medium level).

Is your skin perpetually dry it seems, yet you want to try the loose powders for their pure ingredient factor? Consider tapping a bit of the loose powder into your palm, adding a dollop of your favorite organic lotion or light oil, blending, and applying as a creamy titanium dioxide-free foundation!

1. GET MATCHED

Test the shades you are considering (e.g., via sample sizes) on your jawline close to your neck to ensure the best color-matching will occur; assess for color-matching in natural sunlight.

2. TAP, TAP

Tap minerals into the lid of the container. A little go a long way, and it's always easier to tap too little and incrementally tap more than it is to attempt to get minerals back in the sifter pot.

3. BRUSH MATTERS

Choose the right brush (E.g., cruelty-free kabuki, flat-top, or buffer brush) to dip into the minerals. Press gently into tapped-out minerals as to catch minerals onto brush bristles. Gently tap brush to remove excess.

4. ROUND & ROUND

Apply in gentle, light circles, layering as you so desire. For areas needing extra attention, a concealer brush, with its small, consolidated bristles, can focus minerals--e.g., around those nose; over blemishes. . .

5. CONCEAL?

While many recommend concealing prior to applying minerals, it is arguably as preferred to conceal areas (e.g., dark circles) after applying loose minerals. If you'd rather this be step one, your call!

6. MATTIFY

If your skin is especially prone to oil, consider using a mineral veil/setting powder atop your loose mineral foundation. Even for dry or normal skin, this is a lovely option for a flawlessly blended finish.

7. GO FOR IT!

Follow with a swirl of your favorite blush shade atop the apples of your cheeks and bronzer to augment your cheekbones; contour elsewhere as desired. (We recommend applying all eye products prior to all these steps!)

8. ADMIRE

Seriously, step back and admire your natural beauty! Also, while reapplication may not be necessary for all, in especially hot climates or if skin is oil-prone, it can't hurt to pack your foundation in your bag.
